Now We’re Even – Marshall finds out that Lily had a sex dream about Ranjit. Big Days – Lily doesn’t like how Marshall tells his father everything. The Stinsons – Marshall learns how Lily really feels about his mother. Not a Father’s Day – Marshall and Lily decide if they are ready to have a baby. Everything Must Go – Marshall wants Lily to sell her clothes to help pay to repair the floors in their new apartment but he is skeptical when she wants to sell her paintings instead.
He also reveals that he cannot fantasize about women other than Lily without first imagining that she has died and he has gone through a grieving process. It is shown in “The Sexless Innkeeper” that Lily and Marshall are terrible hosts during “couple’s nights”. Toward the end of the second season, before the wedding, when Ted is planning to move in with his girlfriend, Robin, it is shown that most of the possessions in the apartment belonged to Ted. Marshall and Lily, while still wanting to get married, learn that they are somewhat dependent on Ted. The couple is relieved when Ted ultimately decides not to move in with Robin and returns to the apartment.
The duo became acquainted with each other when they ended up rooming together in the dorms. She was immediately infatuated with Marshall and successfully manufactured a meet-cute that resulted in them falling in love. That love became a recurring point of inspiration for Ted on his own journey.
Wedding
James and Lily must have thus married sometime between leaving Hogwarts in June 1978 and autumn 1979. How Lily and Marshall are Lovers AND Friends
One of the best supporting characters of the show was Marshall’s father. The character was killed off eventually, which was a heartbreaking moment for both viewers and the characters alike. If the man running the bodega down the corner is dead to Lily, Marshall agrees. If one of their friends pisses one of them off, that friend pisses both of them off. Sometimes Marshall needs a little push to be on board with the same feelings as Lily, but he always gets there. Ted has accused Marshall and Lily of becoming one amorphous blob of a person at times, especially because for a while the couple was saying “we” for everything.

She quickly returns, quitting her job and coming back to New York for Ted’s wedding, citing homesickness.
